On July 17, to protest Trump, about 300 people marched, sang, and played New Orleans-style marching music in Brattleboro. The same day, in Northampton, about 300 people rallied and in Greenfield about 175 people were at a rally.
In Brattleboro, starting at 5:40 p.m., people marched through a working class neighborhood on Flat and Elliot streets where residents sat on their front porches, before the marchers went down Main Street. The marchers sang songs from the Civil Rights movement, accompanied by live drums and horns playing New Orleans-style marching music. A NOAA-predicted thunderstorm that likely reduced turnout held off until just after the march ended. The Valley Post was there.
